Spring is almost here! So, we thought this would be the perfect time to go over sprinkler systems as

they are an integral part of a successful landscape.

When to turn them on?

Asap. Its best to have them turned on and inspected as soon as the weather permits so that you can be ready to water in case of an unusually warm or dry spring (which can happen)

Is that all I need to do?

No. Sprinkler systems are to be monitored throughout the growing season and

only used when needed and adjusted as needed.

Common Misconception #1 is to turn on your sprinkler system in the spring and forget about it, but

sprinkler systems need to be monitored according to your site conditions and the weather, which can be

very unpredictable.

Common Misconception #2 is the idea that more water is better. This is actually wrong because too much water can be just as damaging as not watering enough. Lawns specifically, only need 1-3 days a week of deep watering. Frequent shallow watering leads to shallow roots and can cause disease!
